Application management company deepens bench of network and systems management expertise with addition of Shane O'Donnell

RTP, N.C. – September 15, 2008 – BlueStripe Software, the only provider of APM 2.0 solutions for virtualized data center environments, today named Shane O’Donnell vice president of engineering. Having held senior leadership positions at both Cisco Systems and Oculan Corporation, O’Donnell brings nearly two decades of engineering excellence, strategic vision, and exceptional execution in both network design and management to his role.

At BlueStripe, O’Donnell will oversee all product engineering, development, and support aspects for the company. “One of the biggest challenges facing companies today is taking core business applications and moving them to the promise of virtual platforms,” said O’Donnell. “The team at BlueStripe is changing the way companies manage applications with a new approach that successfully brings world-class application management capabilities to the virtual platform world. BlueStripe has solved the foremost obstacle in this space and I’m eager to advance their efforts to help customers gain maximum visibility into their applications and effectively manage virtualized resources."

Prior to BlueStripe, O’Donnell served as software strategist & architect at Cisco Systems where he was responsible for spearheading strategic efforts on the use of open source technologies in embedded systems and management products. Prior to Cisco, O’Donnell served as OpenNMS project leader and CTO at Oculan Corporation. While with the company, he led the design and development of OpenNMS, an open source alternative to the commercial network management packages commonly deployed in larger networks. As Oculan commercialized those technologies, O'Donnell added vice president of products to his title and oversaw the productization of their award-winning products.

“Shane has a strong track record for bringing new technologies to market and building and managing complex IT infrastructures in some of the industry’s most progressive network management companies,” said Chris Neal, founder and CEO of BlueStripe Software. “This experience will be critical as BlueStripe delivers on its promise of providing solutions for improving the way companies manage applications – both physical and virtual.”

Earlier in his career, O’Donnell held engineering and management positions at the U.S. Census Bureau and State Farm Insurance. He is also a certified OpenView consultant and has leveraged his experience to design, implement, consult, and provide training in network and systems management for some of the largest networks and network management installations in the world, including AT&T, Wal-Mart, and General Electric.
